Murren, Switzerland
June 10 - 12
June 10th – Drive to Murren, Switzerland. To access our hotel, we had to take a gondola to Murren, a small town on the top of the right side of Launderbrenne Valley in Switzerland. Our hotel was Hotel Jungfrau. While our hotel room was smaller than other rooms had been, it came with a balcony. From our balcony, we could see the Eiger, Monch, and Jungfrau, three of the most famous Alps in Switzerland.
June 11th – My family and I visited the Schilthorn, where the James Bond movie On Her Majesty’s Secret Service was filmed. We were able to buy tickets for brunch at Piz Gloria, the restaurant in the Schilthorn, before our trip. The brunch includes the outer seating section that revolves around the restaurant so that guests can see the whole 360 view within 45 minutes. However, guests are only allowed to stay 1 hr and 30 minutes to allow other people to experience the view. That afternoon, my dad, brother and I hiked the North Face Trail, which was 5 miles long and took us about three hours due to the terrain.
June 12
June 12 – My family and I went to Gimmelwald, where the famous Honesty Shop is located. Gimmelwald is an easy walk from Murren since it is about a mile and a half away from Hotel Jungfrau. After seeing Gimmelwald, we rode the gondola from Gimmelwald to Lauterbrunnen Valley. There is a scenic trail that weaves through Lauterbrunnen Valley, which we walked along. On the other side of the valley, we took a train to Wangen to see the view from Hotel Regina, where we had stayed for our trip in 2024.
